These grow to about 6 inches tall usually, some as high as a foot. But that is rare. Often buried back under brush where they have cover and rain water collects. More likely it is because that is where the bird deposited them.
They have tiny thorns in a variety of patterns and shapes. All designed to say in a universal language “Don’t Touch” The only way I try and move twigs to get a clean shot is with LONG tweezers. I didn’t have any today.
They only bloom for a couple of weeks each year. I was out trolling for something to shot with the 50 mm and noticed they were everywhere with their little “pretty in pink” smiles.
