Getting Ready for Winter

The prickly pear are getting ready for winter.  The last of the fruit is dropping off the pads.  They pretty much just “Stick” around for the winter.  Javalina eat them.  So do some people.  The fruit that was gathered earlier has been turned into jams, jellies and syrup.  Prickly pear martinis are a Southwest special.  You don’t get those in Maine.
