I wonder how long he can stay in the sunset.
Better question might be, can he even see?

Those three pyramid shaped mountains always let you know those are the Tucson Mountains.

Tucson is surrounded by four mountain ranges. The Catalinas, Santa Ritas, Rincons, and Tucson Mountains.

The Tucson Mountains sit to the West and provide these sunsets like a glimpse into Egypt.

The evening before the practice rounds were to start I was able to drive through the course on the main road.  

The sun was setting behind these tents.  

It looked like Camelot.

The Catalina Mountains from Oro Valley catch the setting sun. Often a red/orange glow is given off the mountains.

In winter there is a starkness to the scene.

This week I’m going back through the archives and pulling out some sunsets. Yeah, I know we all love our sunsets.

Almost every stock photo site in existence has banned the submission of sunset and flower pictures. But we keep taking them.

The world never seems to stop loving them. So this week after Valentine’s Day will be dedicated to our love of sunsets.
This first one was taken back in 2006 on a fall evening.

The sun was setting and the day was almost done.  But not for everyone.

Moon Sets in the West

The moon set last night just after the sun set.  Not visible for most of the day because of the bright light of the sun.  The moon made a brief appearance after sunset before setting itself a few minutes later.

While most photographers turn their lens to the sunset, sometimes it pays to turn it to what the sun is setting on.  In this case the ivy growing on the wall takes on a glow that it doesn’t have the rest of the day.

As we enter our 44th day over 100 my thoughts turn to last fall and cool evenings when I could setup a tripod without oven mitts and wait for the sun to turn the mountains into gold.
